Therapy for Young Adults & Adolescents

w/Diamon, LAPC

I believe that everyone is born with a fire inside them. Then as they go through life, that fire can be blown out or dimmed by different stressors or life transitions. With my guidance and your commitment, we will relight that fire together.

I specialize in helping kids, adolescents and young adults navigate the challenging transitions relevant to their stage in life. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling with low confidence and self-esteem, battling anxiety or depression I will help you tap into the strength that is already there.

My approach to counseling is person-centered, aimed at helping you feel both supported and understood. Through active listening and genuine empathy, I will help you gain insight into your experiences, values, and aspirations, fostering self-awareness and personal growth.

Further, I will also integrate other techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing.

Though these terms may not mean much to you now, our use of them in therapy will:

  • Help you stop negative thought patterns and behaviors that keep you feeling sad and stressed out

  • Teach you practical skills to cope with your emotions so that you aren’t over relying on self medicating through substances

  • Explore reasons why you feel stuck, knowing you need to change but lacking the motivation to take the first steps

By integrating these therapy modalities, I will provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to counseling that addresses your unique needs and supports your journey towards healing and growth.

Signs We Will Work Well Together

A good way to determine whether or not we would be well matched in our therapeutic relationship is during our free, brief consultation call. You will get to ask me questions about my experience, how change occurs for clients during sessions, and if I have helped others who have dealt with similar situations as yours.

To help you further, here are feelings my clients often have before working with me:

"I just want to find joy"

"If I could get out of my own head things would be better"

"Is this what adulthood is supposed to be"

“I used to be a lot more confident”

“I feel so behind my peers with my career and relationships”

“I feel stuck between being the person I want to be and the one I think others expect me to be”

If these are sentiments you can relate to, I want to talk to you. Your feelings are valid and you don’t have to go through these things alone.

Signs Your Child May Benefit from Working With Me

  • If your child frequently displays signs of sadness, anxiety, or anger that seem disproportionate to the situation, I can help your child(ren) learn healthy ways to manage their emotions.

  • Whether it's starting a new school, dealing with a divorce, or adjusting to a major life change, children can struggle to cope with transitions. I can provide your child(ren) with the tools and support they need to navigate these changes more effectively.

  • If your child is withdrawing from friends and family, avoiding social situations, or experiencing difficulty making connections with others, therapy with me can help them develop the social skills and confidence they need to thrive.

  • If your child's academic performance has declined, they are having trouble concentrating in school, or they are experiencing frequent behavioral issues in the classroom, therapy can help identify and address underlying issues that may be contributing to their difficulties.

  • Pay attention to significant changes in your child's behavior, such as increased irritability, changes in sleep or eating patterns, or engaging in risky behaviors. These could be indicators that your child is experiencing emotional distress and could benefit from support.

  • If your child has experienced a traumatic event, such as the loss of a loved one, abuse, or a natural disaster, therapy can provide them with a safe space to process their feelings and work through their trauma.

  • Sometimes emotional distress can manifest as physical symptoms such as headaches, stomachaches, or fatigue. If your child is experiencing unexplained physical symptoms, it may be a sign that they are struggling emotionally and could benefit from therapy with me.
